I live in Indiana and Indianapolis has the world’s largest children’s museum. It's 5 stories tall. Egyptians have visited the Egyptian exhibits there and compared it to The Library of Alexandria. The Children’s Museum will have an exhibit about the childhood toys that have gotten the most votes.

Read this at http://www.fox59.com/news/wxin-the-childrens-museum-includes-public-in-favorite-toy-vote-20120716,0,3322344.column and then vote for your favorite childhood toy by August 17th at http://www.childrensmuseum.org/100toys . I think that you can vote once a day. Super Mario Bros 3 was once my favorite game and it’s tempting to vote for video games. I actually voted for Legos.

Please briefly post here in this thread about what you’ve voted for.

Vote for your favorite toy for the Children’s Museum by August 17th! Empty Rugs and Hot Wheels

Post by stathmk Tue Jul 31, 2012 2:30 pm

With those rugs, you get to make your own rugs. At about the time that I was 2 or 3-years-old, my Mom had already made rugs like that for me, but they had images of puppets named Bert and Ernie on them.

I had Hot Wheels. If you like Hot Wheels, then I’ve already been to the large Hot Wheels exhibit at The Children’s Museum. Do you want me to email my photos of the life size cars and hot wheels to you? Then send me a message with the email address that you are using now. I’ll have to respond another day.

We still have an opportunity to vote for the gold, silver, and bronze toys out of the top 20 at http://www.childrensmuseum.org/100toys . This includes Hot Wheels and Legos.

Looked a list of toys. Surprised that there was no toy Indians and cowboys. Such as those that are manufactured by Louis Marx. By the way this series was to continue.
    .
In the first photo the original toys, seems mid 60s

    .
In this photo the Cowboys have released in the USSR (Ukraine) in the early 80s ..

Simply put most of the cowboys copied. But some of the "not passed censorship".. Laughing
More precisely one figure - in the bottom row, far left. Beaten cowboy. Also to save money in the Soviet series had no cowboys on horseback
    .
Although the list includes military toy soldiers.
But these soldiers were a rarity in the USSR.
And for toy wars used simple Soviet tin soldiers.
    *
So I select toy guns - Roy Rogers cap pistol and holster.

Such a toy well as produced in the USSR. Photos on the internet is not found. Seen such a cowboy belt in the middle 70s. Probably not preserved "for history" .. Laughing
    Differences Soviet toys:
    1. The belt was made of cellophane.
    2. Not mentioned the name of Roy Rogers.
    3. No cords to attach the holster to the leg.
But decorations were identical to the original.
Another favorite toy was a toy train. In the Soviet Union, often brought from the German Democratic Republic (the firm PICO).

Not only cowboys .. were a series of Indians, pirates, Vikings, Romans, etc..

    .
Most of the series copied Louis Marx Toys
With regards to the Cowboys in the USSR - no wonder.
These characters were popular in the Soviet Union through films from East Germany (GDR). Star of the screen was Gojko Mitic. Others films about Indians were from West Germany (FRG). Real, American Westerns in the Soviet screen were rare. In the period from 1960 to 1985 have shown in cinemas - "Stagecoach", "My Darling Clementine", "The Magnificent Seven", "Mackenna's Gold" and "3:10 to Yuma" which was filmed in 1957. May have been other movies .. in capitals .. on film festivals ..

This is a great Toy Museum web site in Indiana: http://www.indystar.com/article/20120929/NEWS/209290353/Toy-story-Museum-massive-collection-will-go-auction-block?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Communities&nclick_check=1 and http://www.antiquetoymuseum.com/ My Mom and sister have been there. The husband that owned it was a senior citizen that fell and died in 2011. The wife or estate just sold the toys and building last week.

I saw this video today: http://www.aol.com/video/youve-got-jordan-hembrough/517496544/?icid=maing-grid7|netscape|video-module|sec2_lnk1|216341

I like Lego Mindstorms and Lego NXT. You can find some crazy good Lego Mindstorms and NXT on Youtube including Lego Mars Rovers that move by themselves.
