Does anyone want to help contribute to making Wolf3d for Dummies guide? It is a guide for teaching people how to map well, starting from the basics. I could use some more tips to add to my list of tips on making a level a bit better. Oh, and some general advice won't hurt either. I would suggest downloading Wolf3d for Dummies from the Dome thread. https://wolf3d.darkbb.com/dome-news-f2/wolf3d-for-dummies-2011-t1829.htm

    Thanks. tongue

I can't map (yet!) and have no knowledge about it really but I could offer is proof-reading and suggestions on improving layout and grammar, if you like. I used to do DTP for a magazine and I also taught document creation at an IT college. My spilleing iz pwettey gud 2! Razz

I read the first Wolf3D for Dummies Guide when it was posted in August. Thank you.

I would suggest that you add tips like adding codes for connecting switches to particular flame throwing walls and to moving walls like in AReyeP's and MCS' Spear End of Destiny. I always wondered how to do that.

Wow, it nuked itself a few hours after I sent the file up on the net'. Brian has it though, you can try asking him for it, as he is reading away at it. I can't reupload it today, though.

The objective for Wolf3d for Dummies to cover Wolf3d of every aspect other than coding. If I were to make a coding guide in my lifetime, I'd call it Coding for Dummies or something.

Thank you if you're covering graphics, sound, and music.

Somebody on Diehard Wolfers' Bunker was complaining that the coding tutorials on DHW's Bunker aren't organized very well. Maybe in a year or 2 I might start a Microsoft Word file or html page with coding tutorials organized.

Yes, I know that they are not organizerd very well. I wanted to take all coding tutorials on this planet and organize them, although the permissions problems and time is killing me, so I ditched the plan.

In the editor's version of EoD there is a fairly extensive text file to help people new to mapping EoD and it covers how to handle all the new features. AReyeP is pretty approachable about questions and I will always answer what I can, although I have only made a few dozen EoD maps. The text file doesn't have any supporting graphics to visually walk people through adding the special features to a new map. That might be an idea.

I haven't forgotten my promise to contribute to W3D4D. I hope to have something to you within a month or so.

I now think that I misunderstood that it will contain graphics, sound, and music. Maybe we will eventually create another volume with graphics, sound, and music. Maybe yet another volume will contain coding.

Include in Wolf3D For Dummies that if the finished game's zip file is 3 megabytes or less, then they need to contact Mr. Lowe at http://www.wolfenstein3d.co.uk/news.htm . Also include that if the finished zip file is more than 3 megabytes, then they need to email it to me at wolfensteingoodies.com, or link me to a page like mediafire where I can download it and host it on my page. I will also host other FPS files, Macintosh Wolfenstein 3D or Spear of Destiny, and Wolfenstein 3D in Doom 2 files.

    Following errors found:

In 0001 – About this Guide

This guide is shows you most of how Wolf3d works, how to map, common mistakes, help in picking the editor, and how to make your mapping better.

    Should read: This guide shows...
    (take out the word "is")

In 00300 – Over 50 Tips to Make Your Life Easier

21 - Out of ideas? Go get some inspiration from some good Wolf3d mapsets. Try Ack’s Acktung! 2, or Aryep/MSC Amsterdam’s Spear Resurrection.

    AReyeP/MCS is spelt wrong.
