    The OFFICIAL World Cup Thread

Post by jayngo26 on Sun Jun 13, 2010 11:37 am

I have decided to start a World Cup thread! I have also decided to replace country names with user names. Enjoy and feel free to add! I have also decided to use myself as USA as I am probably the only American on this forum who actually likes soccer...

    Game 1

Schabbs vs. Jayngo = Draw = 1 win for Jayngo!

Sorry Schabbs, but that's a game you should of won. I win because of the draw.

    Game 2

    Nexion/Ronwolf vs. Dean

    Halftime Update:
Dean looks old and past his prime against the younger Nexion/Ronwolf combo. This match is all but over...

    Final:
    Nexion/Ronwolf 4 0 Dean

Recap: Wow. Dean. How very embarrassing.

I thought you were actually describing me for real for a second there!

Yeah, very poor performance by the Aussies, going to need a strong result in our next game if we have any chance of progressing.

Well today was another game played by me.

Jayngo vs. Some country the size of Houston, Texas.

    Final:

Jayngo 2 2 Some country the size of Houston, Texas

A very frustrating game, as I started off horribly in the first half, then came out strong in the second half, only to have a HORRIBLE call by the referee go against me, disallowing a goal that SHOULD OF BEEN GOOD.

    Ah, those terrible, horrible referees.

The only hope I now have is for Schabbs to play another bad came and come away with a draw....

That's ok. Funny enough, it's actually quite common that the Netherlands get confused with Germany, Danmark or Balkan states.

    Jayngo vs. Algeria

Halftime Update: Jayngo 0 0 Algeria
Well, once again I get a good goal disallowed. I'm beginning to think the ref's don't want me in this tournament...

    Final:
    Jayngo 1 0 Algeria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you believe it!?!??!! I cannot be denied!!!!!!! In the '91 I score a goal in dramatic fashion!!!!
Not only did I beat Algeria, but I also beat those silly referees!
Who would of thought that I would win a Group that included Schabbs!?!?

    Jayngo vs. Ghana

This is it! Do or die!

    Final:
    Jayngo 1 2 Ghana

Ah, so it comes to a very sad conclusion. What a shame. This is a team I should of beat. Oh, well, my dreams and hopes are shattered. But, I guess things could be worse...

    Schabbs vs. Germany

Final Score: Schabbs 1 Germany 4

Schabbs is out. Even though England had a goal disallowed, they conceded 4 goals. The German side was more dynamic and their win was fully deserved.

I am sorry Schabbs. Nexion looked superior in every way today. Even though you clearly scored a second goal, it really didn't matter. I feel that Nexion will be facing Brazil in the finals...

I think it's time that Soccer/Football got with the modern world and add INSTANT REPLAY. There have been some really bad calls by the officials in this World Cup.

You are right about the bad calls. There was a goal by Argentina in yesterday's other match that was clearly off-side. However, I think Argentina still deserved to win though overall. The final score was Argentina 3 Mexico 1.

There's a detailed report on my match with Germany at http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/frontpage/2010/0628/1224273467973.html?digest=1 .

    Ronwolf1705 2 1 Slovakia

Ronwolf1705 has a long win streak going right now. Ronwolf1705 looks strong. He will need to be if he faces Brazil.

Phew. I have been quite busy these past few days. Here is the latest updates:

Ronwolf1705 has advanced to the World Cup Finals!!!! Impressive Ronwolf!

Sadly, Nexion lost all control and let himself lose to Spain. Maybe next time Nexion!

So, the final has been set:

    Ronwolf1705 vs. Spain

It will be a big task for Ronwolf, but I feel he's up to it!

    Today!

    The FINAL!!!

    Ronwolf1705 vs. Spain

Update: Currently there is no score in the 92'. Wow!!!

    Final Score:

    Ronwolf1705 0 1 Spain

Sadly, Ronwolf could not pull it off. Such a heartbreaking loss!! I was really pulling for Ronwolf especially since I didn't really want to see Spain win it all. Oh well, second place is still a great finish at any World Cup!

Overall, I thought the World Cup was really enjoyable to watch. There were some terrible calls by the referees though. I firmly believe Soccer needs an instant replay for goals and offsides calls that are arguable. Maybe FIFA could do something like the NFL. Each coach is allowed to challenge two plays per game. Anyway, I'm sad it's all over. I really enjoyed watching much soccer this past month and a half!!!!

    Until 4 years from now!!!!
