The US soccer team beat Spain! Unbelievable. The average American could care less about soccer, but I like it. Most people around here won't even realize how HUGE of an upset this was. It invokes memories of the US beating USSR in hockey in 1980. It's almost that huge. I thought that Tim Howard (US goalie) played spectacular. It was sad to see that red card on Michael Bradley ( I thought it was a weak call). Means he can't play the next game. Could the US beat Brazil?? I won't hold my breath. But, in spite of recent events-who knows...

Well since soccer is such a big thing over there, they should be better at it and win

I hate American football myself. And I'm American. That's blasphemy over here, but I don't find it fun to play and I feel stupid watching other people play it.
Soccer though, I've always liked soccer. It's simple, straight-forward, and fun for anybody. And it doesn't require that the players rub up against each other, which is always an upside for me

I used to love football a lot more when I was younger. Played every Saturday with my friends. I am much more into hockey and play pretty often in the winter.
Haven't played much soccer, but when you do, you come to realize just how physically fit they are. That's a lot of running around! But, soccer is still a contact sport. There still is rubbing up against other players, but not as much as football and hockey. I guess when you are actually playing you don't even think about that. But, thinking about it now kinda grosses me out.
