I stumbled upon this old video from 93 that John Romero posted on his website. This is great vintage stuff. It's quite long, but it has footage of John playing Doom prior to it's release. John really get's into it! He eventually plays a multiplayer match with a friend via a network. Weird to think how far online gaming has come.

Some things I really liked about the video was the interview with Robert Prince and seeing the Treasures in Doom!

Here's the video: John Romero Id Video

Otto from wolf3d I think is mentioned in RTCW Village 1 level. Ther are two Nazis who are talking about him. Could it be the same Otto from Wolf3D. I believe Otto is dead in this game Since Eps 4-6 take place before Episode 1. Deathshead is Schabbs by the way. So Ep 2 and 3 take place after RTCW. Hitler is also still alive. They refer to Otto as "Otto did talk too much for his own good" like he is dead.

"Wolfenstein was originally written in Borland C and TASM for DOS, but I

had open sourced the code long ago, and there were several projects

that had updated the original code to work on OpenGL and modern

Ok, honestly one of the reasons I'm asking this silly question is because I received an e-mail informing me that the forum needed some more posts. However it really is something I've wondered. What kind of hat is worn by the SS in Wolf3d? Growing up, I always beleived it to be a military beret. But, on closer inpection I suspect it is actually a garrison cap. What do you think?

I absolutely love this engine! not only is it the most faithful, but the controller support rocks! Wolfenstein 3D is the only PC fps game that I prefer using a controller over the keyboard and mouse. this engine also lets you play at higher resolutions! I play at 900x600 now, which I think might be the highest possible. this is good..because using the original PC version hurt my eyes since the resolution was so low causing the refresh rate to be super low as well. so I'm going to try to beat ...

Quick SOD question

Im trying to figure out if I accidently overwrit my SOD with something else. Mission One looks like your regular Wolf3d map and graphics. However, 2 and 3 are completely different, and if I didnt know any better, Id say I accidently overrode the main SOD code again.

Except I know better. I made that error once with the first mod I ever downloaded (on Wolf3d) and have been very carefull since. Plus, with the exception of the main Wolf and SOD games, everything is kept on an external drive. ...

Im going to take a wild guess that the reason the Mac version has better graphics is due to programming and that Macs could support better graphics at the time. Or something.
Why did the Mac version get a flamethrower and a rocket launcher? So Mac users could have something to boast about?

MobyGames wrote:Apogee were selling a "Wolfenstein 3D" T-Shirt in their product catalog. A grey shirt showing our hero, B.J. Blazkowicz on front with Id Software and Apogee logos at the back, along with B.J's slogan - "Whatever the question lead is the answer". ...
