Super Haven Mapset Released | |
Members of the Wolf3D Haven Forum have released a 60 level mapset. Mapping contributions are by Dark_Wizzie, ack, Thomas Weiling, WLHack, Valts, Jayngo, Havoc, Jpb, Dr. Chainsaw and Schabbs. Most graphics are original (to keep the original Wolf3D feel), but there are code changes including increased static object limits and increased ammo/health limits. WLHack and Ronwolf did the code changes and Mr. Choi did the title screens. Text file included. Both Windows and Dos versions are included. Available here. The forum is at Wolf3D Haven Forum. |

Re: Super Haven Mapset Released
So, the SHM is finally released...nice! I know it's a bit late, but I found this...No annoying sounds anymore tutorial
I tried it on my SDL Wolf version and it works great...
BTW, what say we, down the road a bit, do another SHM, BUT, this time pull out all the stops. Full out SDL, tons of coding/changes, etc, etc. Wouldn't that be fun??
It could be called the USSHMSDL.....Uber, Spectacular, Super, Haven, Mapset, SDL...hehe.

Re: Super Haven Mapset Released
An updated version of the mapset has been released as levels E1M6 and E3M8 gave error messages in the Dos version when playing in the hardest difficulty mode. These were due to too many actors/static objects.
Also, the dos exe has since been hex edited by Andy so that the dos version now shows the same episode names as the sdl version. The errors mentioned above were not due to Andy's exe as they also occurred with the previous dos exe.
The new version is still at http://www.veracottis.co.uk/SuperHavenMapsetv16.rar .
No problems so far with the SDL version.

Episode 1 level 2 error
I downloaded it 2 days ago. I keep on running into an error where there's an invisible wall that I sometimes can't pass on episode 1 level 2 that was behind where a pushwall was. I was using using the SDL version, but I don't know if that makes a difference.

I used MLI to get the keys so that I wouldn't have to go to the place with the invisible wall that blocks the path to the keys.
The exit to the secret level on episode 1 doesn't work.

Doesn't work in DOSBox
I tried starting Wf3dDos in DOSBox 0.72 and the game won't load.
I want to open it in DOSBox because the exit to the secret level isn't working and -goobers with warping must be the only way to get to the secret level.

One thing that may be causing the game not to load: If you've been running the SDL version before the dos one, try deleting the config.wl6 file first before trying it in dos.
The other problem regarding the secret level elevator I think Eric will be able to answer better than me, but it worked when I last tried it.

Re: Super Haven Mapset Released
Aww, jeeze, how stupid of me. I fixed the error long time ago on my version, and I forgot to add the changes to Brian's version of the mapset.stathmk wrote:I downloaded it 2 days ago. Meh. Brian please fix the error (The error is on E1L2, at the SS after the network of obvious pushwalls.)
Anyways, please keep in mind these are old maps I made long time ago
And yes, about the DOS version not working, that's not really a glitch. Keep in mind it's aweful hard for me to check for glitches since the Library Computers dont' feel like helping me out here. In fact for some odd reason DosBox keeps saying the mounting folder for SUperhavenmapsetv16 doesn't exist. :S
Edit:
The Secret level and the elevetor to Secret Level both work fine... I see no problem. And you actually found the secret elevator from level 1? Kudos to you!
Anyways, I found another bug (another of which I fixed but forgot to update on Brian's version ) I'll get it done.
I'll work as fast as possible to get this solved, and I hope to have it all fixed and released tomorrow.

Re: Super Haven Mapset Released
If there's gonna be another release, can we code out the hitwall/spacebar sound too? I did it in my version of the SDL code with no problems. I can even do it for you if ya' want.
I don't think you can do that if Wlhack did the coding.

I'm glad that we have the invisible wall glitch fixed for episode 1 level 2.
Also, there are8 9 Easter eggs in the game, not 7.
I'm going to type this to clear up some confusion. The hidden exit on episode 1 level 2 is not intended to go to a secret level. Dark_wizzie also told me that the exit is hidden anyways so that you can maybe get some bonus points for finishing under par. He also said that you have to go to a different level in the episode for the elevator to the secret level.
Update: 9th Easter egg found.
